Maybe Tomorrow - Goldenhorse

Walked into town with S and J at noon. J let me borrow a newish McKillip! Yay!

The walk was nice (it was sunny and without a single cloud) - and got to the Italian festival which was chocka with people. We had to line up for everything as there were more people than there were stalls.

I got a chocolate custard tart - yum! Gelato (Lemon and Feijoa) and Calimari rings. The pasta ran out just as I got up to the head of the queue. Joy. Queue walking can be so frustrating and tiring too. J left early as a consequence.

S and I went supermarket shopping at Chaffers and got home via public transport - which was great as the Basin was chocka with cricket fans and the Overseas terminal was chocka from the fest. No waiting at the wheel for us. Especially since I got to read the McKillip back home.

Went to the Dowse yesterday to see the Fruits exhibit. It was weird going as three couples. The exhibit was very cool. Although it didn't show all the photos in the book. Which cost $64+. Definitely an expensive coffee table book.

Took the car for a spin down and up the back of the zoo and up the Kilbirnie hill as it was a little light on the battery since I hadn't used it for a while. I still find public transport and walking much easier than taking out a car. Except when you need to go outstation in regards to suburbs outside the Wgtn CBD. Especially since I haven't been to the gym for a while.

Went to the DFS (Dress for Success) sale and picked up some cool silk items. A black quilted jacket and a "safari" suit for $30. *grins* Could have shopped some more but I'm happy with my buys.

Also spent a good half hour at the H&M Sale and bought a slip.

Been addicted to Goldenhorse. Especially after listening to them live in the rain at the Cuba St Festival a month back. S bought me the limited edition copy this week which has been pretty much playing all week. ^_^;

Easter has been pretty chocka full with easter eggs from S. I've gotten three so far ^_^; Although I've been good and have given away 6 easter eggs to peeps. ^_^

Goodies

*grins* I got some nice goodies from sis and mum while they were over in Singapore and Malaysia last month.

I'm currently drooling over my iPaQ 2200 (which lets me delay my temptation of buying a laptop). It's great being able to read e-books without having my eyes glaze over immediately after opening one up. And having an external memory is great! It's a whizz at noting down dates and appointments and events to go see.

I'm also the proud owner of probably one of the few Motorola C350s in New Zealand. *woot* Now all I have to contemplate is how much money I can afford to spend on WAP access in NZ as it's so exorbitant currently. Which reminds me of the days I used to pay $2-4 per hour of internet usage (ie international traffic).

*grins* Which of course means I should be good in regards to other things - but I've splurged on festival tickets this year as the previous time - I waited till too late and missed out on all the events I wanted to see.

After listening to the Huqin quartet - it makes me regret not bringing back a erhu from China a year ago. I had an inkling that customs might not be too happy about python skin stretched over wood, steel strings... with a horsehair bow. I'm amazed to find out that there is someone at Massey studying the history and culture of the erhu in chinese context. Woot!

Cookin'

Took mum to the show and it was absolutely awesome! It appealed to all as there wasn't really much talking as much as Charlie Chaplin style communication.

The amount of work and energy required for the entire one and a half hours was amazing!

And the characterisation kept me laughing hysterically throughout the show. No wonder it played at Broadway and has been playing since 1997.

Watching people wielding knives and spinning them around their faces was very scary and kept me on the edge of my seat.

And the usage of props was very inspired.

Had a great dinner at Chameleon. It was very upmarket without being stuck up. And they had a jazz band that night. Others also had the same idea to do dinner preshow as after we arrived for a booking at 5:30 - the restaurant filled up. The bread was great. The duck was ok. The beef was delicious. And the dessert was great! (Even if it was gastronomically tiny on a huge white plate) which is just as well considering how rich my dessert was. A chocolate Marquis with trimmings.

Saturday morning was spent with SC and her mum at Yum Cha at Grand Century. Both parents liked the Regal better (in regards to traditional chinese fare - even if they found the coconut buns that all the Kiwi peeps liked).

Took mum asian grocery shopping and we struck a payload at Moore Wilson when Mum scored a bag of fresh figs, dragon fruit and pamelo and a fresh duck. I picked up some salted duck eggs myself and some roasted chestnuts.

Hmmm

Yay - I'm yet another year older.

I have but one year before having to go to England for the Working Holiday visa for two years before it expires when I am aged 30 years.

I was given a stash of chocolate goodies, more amber jewellery and am now the proud owner of a PSII courtesy of friends! Yay!

I now finally get to play DDR whenever I feel enthusiastic enough to bounce around - although I'm contemplating getting the DDR Megamix (for the PSII). I keep hoping they'll bring out the original DDR dance mixes - but so far - no luck...I'm currently eyeing up the Eyetoy as my next electronic conquest.

Just watched Matrix Revolutions. Considering people's reactions. I thought it was alot better than expected - only because I wasn't expecting anything - although having a non-hollywood ending was a refreshing surprise. I liked the fact that the mortality of the heroes was in question the whole way. (Trying not to spoiler things).

My favourite part of the whole movie was the gorgeous ending credits music track - Navras - I believe? Very tempted to get the album just for that alone.

Very pretty - I listened to the entire song at the theatre.

That - and the LOTR:RotK trailer! Woot!

Currently working at upskilling myself. Making more friends - and trying to make sure that life after work is fun. Cos work sure can eat up alot of self and effort.

I hope that I get to go full circle and catch up with old schoolmates, friends and associates later on in life.

It'd be nice - regardless of where I am in life.

Update

Well - I guess I should update my journal with more than just quizzes ne?

I've spent at least two weekends at work in the last month. Only consolation was the great food at Wakefield markets. One of the stalls does bubble tea and another does takiyaki (Octopus balls)! YUMMY!

Been playing Lionheart and Temple of Elemental Evil. Not bad RPGs at all. Lots of fun... only bad thing being that my poor lil ol' computer is now under spec for games being developed nowadays :(

Been also doing alot of walking. In prep for the Corporate Challenge - five kilometres of walking in one afternoon...I wonder if I'll survive o_0;

There is a new branch of EB Games opened in the CBD as opposed to being in Lower Hutt or Porirua, and the new Gamesman in Lambton Quay has been tempting me with various anime. Especially Noir, Virus Buster Serge and Hack Sign...then again I've been tempted by the PSII and Eyetoy, as well as Soul Calibur II. Did I mention getting a new cellphone? And a laptop of some description... (Tech drool is not good).

Friday (17 Oct) was spent with BF at the Bot Gardens. We walked through the Bolton St cemetary and then through the rose gardens, checked out the tulips (there were HEAPS of them - although a fair number had done their dash), enjoyed the kiddie park, wandered past the Aussie and Scent gardens, passed by the Treehouse, and cable car-ed our way down to Lambton Quay. We then walked to Istanbul for a very nice dinner (which was scoffed at an extremely fast rate) and then off homeward bound.

Diwali (18 Oct) was amazing. I was very disappointed that I couldn't see the Bollywood competition nor the band later on in the night as I had a concom meeting in Newlands, but the lil bit I did get to enjoy was great. I also had a dosa/thosa for the first time in over a year - sad ne?

Hmmm...should I write more? ^_^; I can't remember now... *sniffles*

Another Quiz

My inner child is ten years old today

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost
in a good book, or giggling with my best
friend, I live in a world apart, one full of
adventure and wonder and other stuff adults
don't understand.

Quizzes

Yay - quizzes to fill in my blog!

uni
You are Form 3, Unicorn: The Innocent. "And The Unicorn knew she wasn't meant to
go into the Dark Wood. Disregarding the advice
given to her by the spirits, Unicorn went
inside and bled silver blood.. For her
misdeed, the world knew evil."
Some examples of the Unicorn Form are Eve
(Christian) and Pandora (Greek). The Unicorn is associated with the concept of
innocence, the number 3, and the element of
water. Her sign is the twilight sun. As a member of Form 3, you are a curious
individual. You are drawn to new things and
become fascinated with ideas you've never come
in contact with before. Some people may say
you are too nosey, but it's only because you
like getting to the bottom of things and
solving them. Unicorns are the best friends to
have because they are inquisitive.

Film Festival

Well, I survived this year's film festival better than last year. For one - I went to less of them, and I didn't go to more than one movie a day. In total, I went to about nine films:

Volcano High
Infernal Affairs
Demonlover
Secretary
Toons for Tots
Cowboy Bebop
A Tale of a Naughty Girl
Animation Now!
Together

My favourite was the last one. I also consider it the best. I bawled my eyes out for at least the last fifteen minutes, as chinese films are well known for being very sad to the point of tragedy.

The animation was also fun. Highlights include Hamilton Matress, Tim Tom, At the End of a Thread, Ward 13 and of course the Chubb Chubbs!!

Infernal Affairs was wonderful (for a non-kung fu movie) and I also found out one of my favourite actor's english name. Tony Leung.

Volcano High was also very fun - posing, narrator, subtitle of person's role at the school.

The only real disappointment was Demonlover, which had no real ending - except speculation that left you hanging.

Now I just have to wait for the next festival ne?

Sick again!!

*blehs* I've managed to get sick again in the space of 3 weeks.

Sheesh!!

S bought me a little pressie to cheer me up today ^_^ *woot* A set of rose shaped tealights and a little 3d-light magicball in yellow with a music notes design.

I gotta take care of myself. S is away for the week in Collingwood, so at least I'm not infecting her.

Taped and watched the final episode of CSI for a bit. With two resolutions. Woot!

Been playing Rise of Nations. It's not a great game - but it's fun if not a little too easy.

Went to the doctor again, and got a med cert thankfully. I don't feel quite so guilty about being away from work now.

Had a good chat with mum tonight, as I don't know if I'll be well enough to visit this weekend. *sighs*

Oh well.
